One of the great contemporary geometers, Professor Dr. Maks A. Akivis celebrated his 85th birthday and 65 years of scientific activity on January 5, 2008. This volume contains a representative collection of papers he has selected from his prolific mathematical work. The publication, made possible by his friends, students and colleagues, is meant as a sign of deep respect and admiration.

The book also contains a complete list of the publications of M. A. Akivis, a list of Ph. D. Theses  written under his supervision and a Laudatio for the jubilee, written by A. T. Fomenko, V. V. Goldberg, V. F. Kirichenko, V. V. Lychagin, and A. M. Shelekhov. A detailed Table of Contents is given below.
